Your new role

The role is based at the beautiful headquarters in Stockholm, and travelling is natural and expected in the role (25-35%), meeting potential and existing clients at their sites or at events like congresses. The client base is international. You report to the Head of Sales.

The position is responsible for managing and nurturing long-term relationships with key customers to drive Pelago Bioscience's growth and ensure exceptional customer satisfaction. Your main task will be to understand the customer's needs, translate them into sales opportunity and drive the sale process. This critical role requires a combination of significant sales expertise, exceptional communication skills and a keen ability to proactively anticipate and manage customer requirements.

Tasks and responsibilities include:

  • Drive sales growth of our CETSA service portfolio.
  • Lead Generation by attending conferences, targeting key customers, and expanding the contact base within accounts.
  • Profile and qualify customers.
  • Deliver presentations, lead discussions, and manage follow-up with customers.
  • Negotiate service and business agreements with prospects and clients. Support other Sales colleagues and Project Advisors with questions related to agreements.
  • Identify upselling and cross-selling opportunities within accounts to drive revenue growth. Seek and grow new business opportunities.
  • Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with clients.
  • Support strategic planning and develop account growth strategies.
  • Mentor newly recruited or less experienced Sales colleagues in sales process.

What you'll need to succeed

Most likely, you have experience and a track record of successful complex relationship building and value-creating sales from the specific industry niche, but maybe you work in another industry/niche with transferable skills and are eager to learn the specifics.

You will need:

  • M.Sc. or PhD in Life Science, Biochemistry, Molecular or Cell Biology, Biophysics, Pharmacology, Bioinformatics or related and relevant field.
  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience in key account management, sales, or business development role in the life science industry.
  • A strong track record of building and maintaining successful client relationships.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to convey complex ideas clearly and persuasively.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand client needs and present tailored solutions effectively.

You will find it important to have:

  • An in-depth understanding of the industry, market trends, and competitors.
  • Strong understanding of customer needs, anticipating their requirements, and being able to provide customised solutions.
  • Exceptional sales skills, including the ability to negotiate complex contracts and handle objections effectively.

  • The ability to think strategically and develop long-term account plans aligned with both the client's objectives and the organisation's goals.
  • Highly result-driven and goal-oriented.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Structured and excellent time-management abilities
  • Able to influence and collaborate with internal teams, rally support for client initiatives, and guide cross-functional efforts to deliver exceptional value to key accounts.
